Registered Dexter cattle raised in Tennessee
All cattle at Mossy Valley Farm are registered with the American Dexter Cattle Association and are Chondro and PHA free. We raise black, dun, and red Dexters, carefully selected for correct conformation, gentle temperament, and strong maternal traits.
We periodically have animals available for sale, including heifers, bulls, cows, and calves. Contact us to learn more about our current herd or upcoming availability.
We call him Neo. He puts extraordinary babies on the ground. He is large for a Dexter, easy to handle, and is nicely conformed. His calves to date have pretty heads, nice muscle and bone structure, and sweet temperaments. Chondro and PHA negative, polled, A2/A2 milk, and does not carry red.
Ned is still young but is beginning to fill out. He has a great pedigree, and we are looking forward to seeing a couple of calves from him in 2027. Belle Fourche Mon Capitan grandson on sire's side and Potter breeding on dam's side. Ned is homozygous polled, A2/A2 milk, and carries red.
Sadie is stunning. She has given us 2 heifer calves to date. Mrald/Belle Fourche breeding. She is gentle, friendly, the herd leader, and built like a tank. A2/B milk, black carries red, homozygous polled.
Country Girl is 16 months old. We have no doubt she will be another outstanding representative of the breed when she matures. Heavy Belle Fourche breeding. A2/A2 milk and hetero polled.
Hazel delivered a handsome bull calf last year. She is light dun, A2/A2 milk, hetero polled, and carries wild red. Hazel is friendly and loves attention.
Ellie is a lovely dark dun. She is 16 months old, stocky, and very friendly. She is hetero polled, A2/A2 milk, and carries wild red.
Olive Ann is out of Neo and a close relative of Hazel. She is a pretty light dun 9-month-old heifer. She is homozygous black, dun, hetero polled, A2/A2 milk.
Liza came to us very underweight and with a case of pneumonia. She has settled in nicely, recovered from the pneumonia, and has started gaining weight. I suspect she will be a nice addition to the farm in time. She is red, polled, and carries 2 copies of the dun gene. We will test her milk soon.
Mazie is 2 years old and a heifer. She is homozygous polled and A2/A2 milk. Nice heifer we are waiting to see if she can breed. If not, she will have to go to the processor.
Bonnie is this year's heifer calf out of Sadie and Neo. She is black, carries red and dun, hetero polled, and A2/B milk. She is stocky, yet feminine. We think she will be a carbon copy of her dam.
